- ens Laursen was a Detroit, Michigan resident when entering military service in 1918.
He was assigned to Company M, 339th Infantry as a mechanic. He was taken prisoner of war in the North Russia Expedition.
According to the book "Fugitive Moment," Jens Laursen was a prisoner of war who was released in 1919 and returned to Michigan, where he married and later died in 1955.

An obituary for Jens Laursen was published in the “Detroit Free Press,” on Sat., Feb. 5, 1955.
The May 31, 1964 issue of the Detroit News Sunday Pictorial Magazine detailed the return of the remains of some of the "Polar Bear Expedition" casualties (not Private Jens Laursen, who returned alive). (Find a Grave)
